When evaluating our modern day societal eating patterns, we can clearly see how convenience foods have replaced healthier home cooked options. We need to get back to basics, nourishing our bodies with wholesome whole foods from farm to table.
We can take a page from the Holy Bible and clearly learn how people swayed from perfect creation looking for an alternative method.
The book of Genesis places the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, in the garden of Eden, where they may eat of the fruit of many trees, but are forbidden by God to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 3:3 reads" You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die."
God commanded us not to eat the forbidden fruit as it would bring harm to our bodies. Albeit a totally different context, we could parallel this story in the bible of how wrong choices or decisions in foods we choose to consume, have negative implications.
Clearly, Adam and Eve did not overcome temptation and made wrong choices. This story is analogous of how we all give into temptation with convenient, unhealthy food choices.
Our modern day society has swayed so far from food obtained from nature and its natural state. Current farming practices have stripped many valuable vitamins and minerals from its soils to expeditiously serve the commercial food industry. Furthermore, many foods are being supplemented with fortified, synthetic vitamins in an attempt to substitute that which has been robbed of nutrients.
Our fast- paced, modern technological society, has given birth to a plethora of unhealthy, convenient food options that greatly serves our microwaveable society.
The overconsumption of processed, boxed foods, coupled with a lack of exercise, has contributed to our current healthcare crisis and rapid decline of both mental and cardiometabolic health.
As a society, we need to return to the garden and eat the righteous, life giving fruit and say no to those forbidden foods that bring destruction to our bodies leading to premature death.
I strongly encourage you today to be mindful of what foods your ingesting and opt for healthier alternatives skipping those convenience foods.
