OVERFED AND UNDERNOURISHED

OVERFED AND UNDERNOURISHED

Everyone has heard the expression, "You are what you eat."  We are products of our own choices whether right or wrong? It’s not how much you eat but how much you absorb. Quality always trumps quantity in ensuring proper growth in all areas of our lives.

Analogous to our current society of overindulgence and under discipline, having access to so many choices in the menu of life,  doesn’t equate to proper nourishment.  Stop and ask yourselves, "What are you consuming in this smorgasbord society and is it truly healthy?"

For example, many Christians look to develop their faith by reading excessively.  Albeit there intentions are great and their hearts are committed to pursuing there knowledge of Gods word, often there time is wrongly allocated.

I know for myself as a Christian man, I was caught up in this very pursuit but found I was still not properly nourished by the spiritual food I was consuming. In terms of overall calories per se, in the amount of reading I was doing, I wasn’t yielding the proper fruit, despite the excessive time devoted to growing.

The problem here lies in the fact that I wasn’t consuming or ingesting the content or material properly.  I was merely just reading in excess and not actually studying/meditating on the true nutrients of the word.  This can be true in terms of our overall health as well with so many items of food on the menu. Typically this equates to empty calories.

So we must take inventory and ask ourselves, "Are we focusing on ingesting the correct nutrients from the foods or supplements we are consuming or are we merely absorbing empty calories that inevitably effects the results we are seeking?"

We truly have to be intentional of what we are consuming in this smorgasbord of life and make the choices that yield the greatest fruits in our life.  The phrase, more is not always best, is truly indicative of our choices in life, in our quest to become healthy and whole in our bodies, minds and spirit.
