What inner voice are you agreeing to listen to which is hindering you from either beginning or maintaining a healthier lifestyle? The Holy Bible states, “As a man thinketh so he is.” There’s a phrase that I’m sure all of you have heard, “mind-body-spirit.” In terms of true wellness, we must be truly unified and whole in these three areas to be truly healthy. In life, our thoughts become actions and our actions become habits.
So, what are some self-limiting beliefs that can cause us all to stumble or procrastinate in terms of initiating or maintaining healthier dietary and lifestyle choices? As a personal trainer for years, I’ve often witnessed the following behaviours and dialogue of my prospective or current clients; “What’s the point of exercising, my mom and dad are fat so I will be too.” “High blood pressure and cholesterol runs in my family, so I’ll probably have it too.” “I have NO TIME to exercise as my life is too busy.” Although I’m not undermining the genetic predisposition to disease states, we all have the power to change our health outcomes.
At the end of the day, we have a choice to succumb to these self sabotaging mindsets or defeat the lies of your negative inner voice. As a Christian, I see a lot of parallels to the gospel and how these negative thought patterns take root to rob many individuals of being in harmony with their spirit, mind, and body.
The Holy Bible states in Proverbs 18:21,” life and death are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Furthermore, science has proven through the study of neuroplasticity, that negative self talk, stress, sleep deprivation and a sedentary lifestyle can reduce the brain’s ability to adapt and learn. Conversely, when we move and exercise, our brains stimulate the release of BDNF (brain derived neural factors) which produces the growth of new brain cells.
So today, make a choice to choose words of life and knockout all those negative, self defeating punch lines, that have caused you to stumble and rob you of truth.
Be Blessed!!!

Very encouraging and effective message to anyone who decided to be a procrastinator without a cause. We are the temple of God and hence it should be maintained. Thanks Dave
